I did this course on my own time and found it very helpful. Some of the assignments can be challenging, but that's what we're here for. http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-computer-science/6-087-practical-programming-in-c-january-iap-2010/

There's also a classic called The C programming language by R & C. Good for figuring out C.

If you're referring to this book http://www.cocomartini.com/bookstore/index.php/default/the-c-programming-language-2nd-edition.html I would agree that it is a great resource. The author's are actually K&R (Brian W. Kernighan, Dennis Ritchie). It's pretty famous, as it was co-authored by the creator of C. As such, it can be quite challenging and I would not recommend it for beginners unless you have some previous programming experience. I know this because I own the book.
