Feedback and criticism is much needed :) I have a flute recital coming up next week but I don't feel prepared for it at all :( I will be playing Doppler's Hungarian Pastoral Fantasy Please tell me what I can improve on <3 https://soundcloud.com/jigglypuff314/doppler-hungarian-pastoral https://soundcloud.com/jigglypuff314/doppler-hungarian-pastoral-fantasy-part2 and sheet music to follow along with: http://javanese.imslp.info/files/imglnks/usimg/4/45/IMSLP301277-PMLP36133-Fantaisie_Pastorale_Hongroise_-_Flute_Solo.pdf Update: 6/21 recital is today :P wish me luck! ^_^
*sorry if it sounds airy or fuzzy, I was trying a new mic
It sounds quite good, actually. I do not play flute myself, so I can't give advice on some of the flute specific aspects. However, I did notice that the rhythm tended to be off some times due to your rests. The pause at rehearsal 2 was longer than it should have been, and many of the rests were longer than they should have been. I play the saxophones, and I know how difficult it can be to get breath quickly, but I feel like the only real problem you are facing is the rests.
Thank you @graham69 :) I see what you mean, I had been practicing the entire piece in chunks so the extra long pauses would have been where I usually stop to review, I will try to work on not breaking the phrases, Thank you for your input! <3
Great job ! Excellent job on the higher octaves . Wonderful on the accidentals! Some of the rests were longer than they should have been as graham had said . I understand your reason for that happening . Also try to make your phrases a little more smoother . I play oboe and i know how hard it is to get a long, deep breath in such a short time . Also , great sound quality ! :)
oh my gooooodnesssssssssssss that music <3 wow i can picturize old fantasy stories while listening to it !
This is like...
Professional
ikr?
The 2nd piece can use a little bit of work :)
i remember me playing flute people trying to slap me in face just to stop me from playing it
Hahahahahah!
LMAAAOO I remember such horrible experiences too in music class with other instruments.
hehe but this is great!
Thank you ^_^ though I still haven't been able to play through the last two pages yet :/ I got stuck on the diminished seven runs @arilove1d I will get right to work on trying to shorten the rests and make it flow better :) @aajugdar thank you for your support :) even though I had missed at least 10 notes in each part :P @dan815 I am no where near professional >,< and I'm guessing you mean the parts where I attempted to play faster? yeah, I still have not managed to make it smooth yet, thank you for your compliments :) Thank you for your encouragement :) With this moral boost I feel like I can finally face the last page <3 Thank you!
well i am just a normal listener, missing notes dont matter to me :P it is something that ears hear rather than what brain tells :P
Work on your breathing, work on your pitch and tone, try to vary your range of intensity, appropriately. Do not rush the piece, play it at a slower tempo till you feel comfortable and the sound is coming out as clean as it possibly could. Strive for the special sound. Above all don't listen to anything I say.
=)
@dan815 ahahahaha xD well, you're the third person to tell me to slow down, so what you're saying has to be true :P thank you, I will try to make another recording round later today with the changes ^_^
Okay I look forward to it! Also try to throw in the Fibonacci sequence somewhere.. And when you sit down to play, in corporate the golden rectangle rules in your presentation, and you will do just fine.
@ganeshie8 #Real musical advice from a mathematician ^ looool
lool or play like its harmonic sequence :P
