Open Study should make a filter that if a question is 1 month or older it should be automatically closed.
Also i would like a request for more control on users and chat
just making it aware
There are some useful questions though. I, for example, have one question in a section of calc1, where I store notes. I do think though, that mods should take some time to go through the questions and close the un-useful ones.
#stitchsupports
yes but in the closed section im not saying delete it im saying like some users forget to close the question after they are done
Moderators will go through and clean out sections, the administration can completely wipe out month old questions and older that aren't answered really quickly.
no offense, but that is not going to happen.
ya and then put a filter so you guys dont have to worry about it
Old questions really aren't a huge bother, no one will go back to just randomly answer them so there's not a huge point to go through the hassle of closing each one.
ya but it uses up memory
maybe its the reason for lag
There is no difference in the memory used between closed vs. open questions.
OpenStudy has an average of 3000 new users a day, often there's more. Lags are usually when there are far too many users on os at once.
ya but what if the question is not answered?
Then it's not answered, no big deal.
just wasting space
ok then answer my second complaint
please mam and sir
so proper cx mam and sir
everyone knows that chats are out of control at some times -.- and dont tell me know and dont think im here to fight just suggesting like the subjects called OS feedback im giving feedback
LOL XD @Stitch_
u cray girl
Working on the chat situations. You alone can do your part and remind users of the rules. Sometimes reminding users of consequences when breaking rules will get them to stop. If they don't, all you can do is report it. Just make sure you write which chat the issue is going on in.
cray? nah ^_^ i hate the spammers and trolls in chat ;.;
I do but they dont care some times ur own *cough* team members join their little parties
agreed ^^
moderators and high people always join in when i see it. im like /.\ ughhh no fair. cause everyone is gonna listen to them
If you see an Ambassador disobeying the rules, report them. We don't need trouble to continuously go on. Ambassadors are supposed to represent OpenStudy in a good way, not fall in to trolls hands.
becca who are you and why does everyone say im you ;.;
since i cant message you...
O_O u fan them and then they will decide to allow u or not
If you feel like the chats are getting out of hand, whether by spammers, trolls, or just angry people swearing, the best response is to simply report it, and then ignore it. And I mean completely ignore it. Don't acknowledge their presence at all. If you seen anyone breaking the rules, PLEASE report them. Even if it's a moderator, you can report them (although for moderators it's probably better to directly email the OS admins at abuse@openstudy.com).
hmmm -.- that sound more reliable
but not what this question is about KG
im not asking what to do when i see it im just letting mods be aware of the situation and how my opinion might be the same as others that might see it the same way
A lot of people are asking for requests on more help in the chats. Moderators don't have the time to sit there and babysit every chat, they have threads and users to watch after as well. As for trying to make them better, it's a work in process.
Alright, the original question. I don't think it's a good idea. I don't see any real benefit from it, and there are some disadvantages. For example, there are helpful posts with tutorials or ground rules that are consistently bumped, and closing them every month would actually increase the amount of stuff the website has to store.
i understand that so why cant OS have special users that can suspend only users in chat? idk about ur states but in Florida we have police that control the skies, highway patrols and mounted patrols
thats why os should assign certain mods to certain things. and if they dont have enough mods get more...
Assigning moderators to certain things or sections would be a terrible idea. What if all those users had not come on for weeks at a time? It would be hectic. It's best for it to be a combined system where they all have the notices of reports and so on together.
but that wont happen... as said before os has over 3k new users daily
if it was a horrible idea how come my city is still standing as the best city in Florida -.-
While different mods aren't assigned to moderate different things, we each focus on one area more. As for myself, for example, I usually prefer to watch the chats and check on users trying to evade suspension. Others, like amistre, usually focus more on finding cheaters.
Real life is kind of different to online life.. Can't compare it.
florida team c:
that would be one cool idea only it has a problem , what makes OS special than other learning site is the active system , i might have an answer but i dnt understand it so i post to understand , thats why the Qn should be open even if it has been exist before
We have been discussing the idea of special chat moderators months ago. This idea will most likely be implemented in the future.
O.o wish i can give this very smart man right here a medal ^
