What is the solution of the system of equations? {3x+2y+z=7} {5x+5y+4z=3} {3x+2y+3z=1}

rishavraj (rishavraj):

solve it using determinant or elimination method..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know how to do either. which ways is easiest?

rishavraj (rishavraj):

use elimanation method..subtract 3rd equation from 1st one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so -3z=6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

z=-2

rishavraj (rishavraj):

its supposed to be -2z = 6 z = -3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right. my mistake

rishavraj (rishavraj):

@yelahn are u able to proceed further???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do i take 2 more equations and substite z for -3 in each then solve for a different variable?

rishavraj (rishavraj):

yeah...

rishavraj (rishavraj):

@yelahn got the answer???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

almost

rishavraj (rishavraj):

@yelahn k...then whats the answer??? i too got it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which two equations should i use this time??

rishavraj (rishavraj):

see multiply 1st equation from 5 and 2nd equation from 3..and subtract them.....u will get y

rishavraj (rishavraj):

@yelahn solved???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=-1

rishavraj (rishavraj):

@yelahn yup u r correct...now plug the value of y & z in any equation and get "x"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=2.7??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i made a mistake. let me try again

rishavraj (rishavraj):

@yelahn for sure try it again...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=2

rishavraj (rishavraj):

@yelahn no..u r wrong just plug the value y = -1 and z = -3 in 1st equation..u will get x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats what i did

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3x+2(-1)+(-3)=7

rishavraj (rishavraj):

@yelahn ur eqution is correct....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now i got x=4.3

rishavraj (rishavraj):

@yelahn 3x-5 = 7 3x = 12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=4

rishavraj (rishavraj):

@yelahn this is time u r absolutely correct.....

rishavraj (rishavraj):

to check ur answer just plug all values in equations and see wether LHS = RHS or not
