Well actually that's something tricky.

Whenever we have something like this:

\[\large{x^2 = a^2}\]
\[\large{\implies |x| = a}\]

That means that x can be a or -a.

So, x+2 = 7 is not the only solution. x+2 = -7 is also possible.
