It helps the blood sugar go down. The reason that people are diabetic is because; their pancreas doesn't work properly. Therefore, they must use a man made insulin. Our pancreases create a natural insulin that allows us to eat any type of sugary food without us going high. Normal blood type is 80-160 and when diabetics eat a cupcake they can shoot up to 300 because of that cupcake and that's when they will inject insulin. :)
