why is it more important for dna replication to be exact than for transcription or translation to be exact?

As for individual organisms by itself - multiple mRNA copies are made from each single gene in the DNA. And multiple proteins are translated from each single mRNA copy. For that reason a change in the DNA sequence will affect far more molecules than a miscopy in a single mRNA strand or protein copy. For heredity, with the exception of mRNA transcripts and proteins in the single egg and sperm that join to form a new organism, parents do not pass on their mRNA transcripts and proteins to their offspring. They do pass on their DNA. So mutations in germ cell DNA (not somatic cell DNA) affect their offspring too.
