estimate the spacing of energy levels (in eV) within the valence band formed by a mole of silicon atoms. Assume that the valence band is on the order of 10 eV in height

Am I approaching this the right way? Each Si is sharing its four sp3 orbitals with one other Si. So there are on average (4/2) two bonding orbitals per Si. (The antibonding orbitals are in the conduction band). So there are 2*Avogadro's number energy levels spaced evenly through a 10eV band. 10eV/(2*6.022*10^23)levels=8.3 *10^-24 eV/level

you are right .. thank u.. soo much
