I just looked it up. Louisbourg surrended to the American colonists, aided by the British, in two wars. The First Battle of Louisbourg occurred in 1745, during King George's War (1744-1748). The French forces surrendered it that year. In 1748 the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle returned Louisbourg to the French. In 1758 during the French and Indian War (1754-1763), called the Seven Years' War in Europe, the British attacked again and won the Second Battle of Louisbourg. Two years later the British destroyed it. I hope that this has been a help to you.
