jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

Hello and Welcome to OpenStudy! :) to solve for x from 3x-x+2=12 first add/subtract like terms 3x-x=2x right? so 2x + 2 = 12 then subtract 2 from both sides -2 -2 and once you get that, divide both sides by 2

Combine like terms. 2x+2=12 -2 -2 2x=10 divide by 2 x=5.
