Mathematics 8 Online
OpenStudy (anonymous):

4(x+1)+8=24

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First Distribute, and then use order of operations.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4(x+1)= 4x+4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

distribute the 4 the order of operations 4(x+1)=24 4x+1 =24 6x+1

OpenStudy (kainui):

@bigrob30117 you forgot to distribut the 4 to the 1 in your second line there.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You forgot the 8

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

Adding on to what @Greenicus said, you will have 4x + 4, but you also want to add on the 8 too: 4x + 4 + 8 = 24 Maybe, you can solve for x from here?

OpenStudy (kainui):

That too.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh yeah forgot

OpenStudy (kainui):

Let's try to let @Genesisga try to work some of this out instead of just giving away the answer. You can't truly learn without doing it yourself.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4(x+1)+8=24 4x+1+8 +24 4x+1+8=4x+9=24 try to solve it from there

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4x+9=24 solve

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

isn't that supposed to be a 4 because you are distributing the four to one? @bigrob30117

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@bigrob30117 What Calculus said, you for got the 4.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-2 was not the answer so I got it wrong as anyways but thanks for your help i will remember how you do it. flvs is not the easiest was to learn these stuff.

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

it was actually supposed to be 3 because 4x + 4 + 8 = 24 4x + 12 = 24 4x + 12 - 12 = 24 - 12 4x = 12 Divide both sides by 4 to get 3.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll work out the problem. 4(x+1)+8=24 4x+4+8==24 4x+12=24 - 12 4x= 12 12/4= 3 x=3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4x+9=24 solve

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's not the right way...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks ill retake it and hopeful the have that same question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good luck :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks
