How do I find the lateral area of this prism?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know that lateral area = perimeter x height but i don't know how to apply that to this question.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

in short, to find the area of the prism you find the area of the "shapes that make it up" each individually and then sum them up the "lateral" area will be all shapes BUT the base shape

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So would that be the area of each of the 3 rectangles?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

yes.. the 3 rectangles and that one triangle up above

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, I got a total of 128 for the 3 rectangles and I got 12 for the triangle.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

yeap

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you!
