the Truman Doctrine is an American policy of providing aid to any country whose welfare was deemed essential to the safety of the United States. The purpose of the Truman doctrine was to establish that the United States would support a democratic nation under threat from an internal or external authoritarian force. Meaning its job was to help fight off communism before it spread all over the world.
