Calculus problmem. Photo to be attached. I got part a but I got stuck on b. I know you're supposed to use the mean value theorem but you're not given an equation for the graph. Pretty much how to find the equation of the graph.

Problem 54

@NCount

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

What did you get for Part A?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5.5. I evaluated geometrically for x=1-2, 2-4, and 4-7.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

You did not answer my question. What was your result?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It was 5.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Try looking at it again, I got 8 for part A.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Okay, now is the time to go back and figure out why you did not get 8. What were your intermediate results? x=1-2 ==> ? x=2-4 ==> ? x=4-7 ==> ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1-2=1.5 2-4=1 4-7= 3

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

1-2 ==> Trapezoid: (1/2)(3+1) = 2 See if you can improve the second one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh! I evaluated as triangles. So for 2-4 would you suggest splitting it into two?
