OpenStudy (kainui):

Since gravity is acceleration, how do we know that everything isn't really just increasing in size like a giant balloon? Since the earth is growing larger and larger, that's the push of gravity we feel. Kind of like how a bug gets stuck to the windshield of a car moving really fast. Instead of there being gravity holding us down, we're like the bug being pushed against the surface of the windshield of the car that's moving forward, holding it there like gravity which is really the earth expanding outwards.

OpenStudy (jfraser):

If you consider that theory, then shouldn't all objects on earth constantly get farther and farther apart as the "balloon" expands?

OpenStudy (kainui):

Well, everything is increasing in size, which makes up for it.
