Density

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the specific gravity of gold is 18. find the mass of gold if volume 10cm^3

OpenStudy (jfraser):

specific gravity is a ratio of an object's density relative to water, which has a density of 1g/cm^3 (convenient). If gold has a specific gravity of 18, it will weigh 18 times more than an equal volume of water. So if you know the gold object's volume (10cm^3), and it's density (18g/cm^3), how do you combine those two values to come up with mass (g)?
