What is the oxidation number for Cl in HClO2? (Recall that O has an oxidation number of –2.) +3 +4 +5 +6

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

+3 remember to add them up usually when Hydrogen bonds to a nonmetal it becomes a +1 so +1-4 = -3 so we need to neutralize this charge with a +3
