10 numbers to choose from, and 26 letters. This gives you a total of 10x26 pairs, or 260. If you pick 0 as a number, you have 26 letters to match: (0, a), (0, b), ..., (0, z) If you pick 1 as a number, there are still 26 letters to match: (1, a), (1, b), ..., (1, z) and so on.
