I need help on how to factor x^2+x-2

So we know that we need the number 2 and 1 because 2 times 1 is two and we can add/subtract to and 1 to get +1.

So we know that -2 times 1 is -2

But is -2+1 positive 1? No its negative so that's out.

What bout 2 and -1?

2 times -1 is -2

And 2 -1 is 1 so that will be what we use.

(x-1)(x+2)

And we can check it by FOILing it.
