Can someone please explain to me how to: Find the volume for the regular pyramid.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (loser66):

=1/3 base *height

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do I find the missing side of the base? I see the two 4's as two of the sides but there is a missing side.

OpenStudy (loser66):

if I let it "down" to the right side, the volume is the same, right? |dw:1403208265874:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right

OpenStudy (loser66):

so the area of the base can be calculated, right?

OpenStudy (loser66):

|dw:1403208528988:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it would be 1/3 x the area of the base x height

OpenStudy (loser66):

just look at triangle BAD , you can calculate AH, right? done. hihihi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would AH be 4? and the area of the triangle be 8?

OpenStudy (loser66):

I "cut" the base out. hihihi |dw:1403208810242:dw|
