OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

Describe an important role that pioneer species play in primary succession. Please :)

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

@Koikkara do you know the answer to this?

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

i found this example: a bare rock area just coming out of volcanic activity. The important role of the pioneer species there would be the construction of new soils and seeding them with nutrients, if only by their deaths.

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

but i dont fully understand it

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

without them rock would not be able to be broken down into soil, i suppose

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

wow, you must be writing a super long answer :)

OpenStudy (koikkara):

\(Hmm,~Take~example~Of~A~Rock:\) A bare rock area just coming out of volcanic activity. usually consists of many dead bodies of birds and animals died during volcanic eruption. It just adds humus and pther sorts of mixed minerals to the soil formed from rocks after eruption. \(As~You~said:\) Without them, rock would not be able to be broken down into soil, is the main source of pioneer species in succession. \(Hope~It~helps~!!\)

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

THANKS SO MUCH!
