Why studying AutoCAD is important in engineering?

OpenStudy (paki):

@Isabel☺ Being a civil engineer by profession, i will say that AutoCAD is the BACKBONE of every structure on earth.... For Example, take an example of arch bridge or suspension bridge... It will only be stable and effective, if it is designed properly (ike accurate estimation of steel bars and concrete etc).... So all these can only be done with CAD, SAP and ETAB only... As all these are inter related to each other, mean when you will work, these will perform at the same time... Same you can take any building design or slab design... So that is only possible with CAD... Hope, you got my point... :) For any help, you are welcome to ask... Just TAG me over there... :) Thanks...

how bout in general?

mean...?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

CAD has become central to all forms of engineering. Even things like circuit design are being done in CAD programs. It aids in the design process and makes a lot of the work easier. It also allows for changes to be done and evaluated in moments. AutoCAD has been one of the top three CAD products for about 20 years. This makes it a very practical CAD program to study because so many of the major businesses in the industry use it. This is especially true of structural design; like the bridges paki mentioned, a small house, vehicle design, and more; where CAD has been used longest. So at a minimum, learn a CAD program, and if you have the opportunity to learn AutoCAD, I would take it. If you know for sure that a different program will be more useful in your specific field (I personally know one that has changed due to better CAM support from other vendors) then the broad use of AutoDesk's software will help you in finding a job.
