clay had a strong dislike for jackson and payed anonymously to become president.
somebody found out and clay had been sent to jail

I just learned about this, lol. I do not remember the names, but I think it was John Quincy Adams vs. Andrew Jackson. Andrew Jackson suspected that because John Quincy Adams won because he had made a deal with Henry Clay, who was in the house of representatives. I may be wrong, but I'm 90% certain that that is it.
