What challenges did the Byzantine Empire face from foreign forces?

"Some of the problems they faced was always worrying about the empire falling like Rome did. After Rome fell, the Byzantine Empire was a strong empire and the capital, Constantinople, was the jewel during its time. It had huge walls to defend it and the empire had a great navy. But, the empire finally met its downfall when other tribes began attacking it and eventually tooken over by the Turks."
