MEDAL TO WHOEVER ANSWERS THIS QUICKLY! Let f(x) = 2x, g(x) = x^2 + 2, and h(x) = -4x + 3. Find the composite function (f o g)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its all one question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your supposed to find (f o g)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0.0 what.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol idk

OpenStudy (anonymous):

weird...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't get what its asking

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For fog... I almost have it figured out..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your supposed to find the composite function of (f times g) which is why i put (f o g)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and its all one question! not three!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@walking_stick you helped me yesterday can you help me today?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

your confusing matters. f (composed of) g, is not the same operation as: f (times) g f o g is read: f (composed of) g f*g is read as: f (times) g

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well thats hat i meant then. (f o g)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

take f(x) and wherever you see an x, write a g instead.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

then, wherever you wrote a g, write in the definition of g(x) f o g = f(g)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i still dont get it. people have tried to explain it to me several times and i still dont get it.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what is f(x) defined as?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think this stems from not having a solid grasp on what a mathematical function really is. Take a bit to read through this page. http://www.mathsisfun.com/sets/function.html
