If a radioisotope has a half life of 10 years, how much of the original material would remain after 40 years?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can solve this mentally, without doing any calculations. After 10 years: half remains and half has decayed. After the next ten years, one quarter remains and three quarters has decayed. Continue like this for the next two half lifes to get your answer.
