I need to find the solutions set for the system's equations in the same rectangular coordinate system and finding points of intersection. X^2+y^2=1 x^2+49y^2=49
one is a circle the second is an ellipse i guess we could do this by hand first thing i would do is cheat http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=x^2%2By^2%3D1%2C+x^2%2B49y^2%3D49
Okay-but how would you present the solutions as ordered pairs? (0,-1),(0,1)?
actually it is not that hard even to do it by hand the first one is the unit circle center origin radius 1
the second is an ellipse also at the origin, with minor axis of length 2, so they both go through the points \((0,1)\) and \((0,-1)\)
Thanks :-) I was typing it into Wolframalpha wrong apparently. This helped a lot. Appreciate it a lot.
