why do we need to calibrate calorimeter?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Somy

OpenStudy (eric_d):

By setting the calorimeter to standard measurement

OpenStudy (eric_d):

so, we cam measure amount of heat gain/lost accurately

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nothing about taking into consideration the equipment? cause that's what i thought it was?

OpenStudy (somy):

you've gotta check out 'uses' of it then you will understand Why we need it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

calimeter is used to determine the delta H?

OpenStudy (somy):

yeah i guess :)

OpenStudy (somy):

it's pretty important to know right? coz if u do know the amount of heat lost/gained u can change that according to your needs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im still slightly lost in how it is used to cancel out the effects from the instrument?

OpenStudy (somy):

maybe you should watch some vids on how it is used?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok ... lastly is what is another method for calibrating a calorimeter without the use of a electric heater i know one method is to use a ractant with a know delta H

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but how does that work? what formula do we use to find the calibration factor?

OpenStudy (somy):

tbh you are asking the wrong person since i have no idea lol but here are some vids on how is it used http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzmdV6UzzWk

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you :)

OpenStudy (somy):

u r welcome :))
