find the value of x in tanx which is equal to 2x

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Would you mind clarifying your problem statement? what do you mean by "the value of x in tan x? Unclear.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's tan x =2x

How accurate does your answer have to be? You could estimate x by graphing y=tan x and y=2x on the same set of coordinate axes, and then approximating the x-value of the intersections of these two graphs. Please see the results of my calling upon wolframalpha.com to graph these two functions on the same set of coordinate axes.

If you need a more accurate estimate of x, you could use Newton's Method of Approximating Roots. In other words, you'd use this Method to find the positive root of f(x)=tan x - 2x. Any value of x that makes this function = to 0 is a root of f(x) and thus a solution of f(x)=0.
