Derive the equation of the parabola with a focus at (0, 1) and a directrix of y = −1. I tried soving it but I didn't get the answer. Please help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know what the focus and directrix are?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is not an accurate parabola. But this is what you should understand. |dw:1403381742596:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (haseeb96):

from directrix shows that equation is along y axis .... so (0,a)=(0,1) here a =1 then equation of parabola along y axis is given by x^2 =4ax now put a in the above equation and get the answer x^2 =4x since a =1 this is the equation of parabola
