A boy worked as a shepherd in a field. He sat all day long staring at the flock with nothing to do. One day, he had an idea to stir up some excitement. He cried out, “Wolf! Wolf!” The townspeople ran to assist him only to find out there was no wolf. The boy was pleased with the flurry of excitement he had caused. An hour later, the boy again cried, “Wolf! Wolf!” The townspeople again ran to assist him only to find there was no wolf. An hour later, the boy saw a wolf. It growled and bared its teeth. “Wolf! Wolf!” the boy cried out for help, but no one came to assist him, and he was eaten.
