Polygon ABCD has vertices A(0, 2), B(0, 8), C(7, 8), and D(7, 2). What is polygon ABCD and its perimeter? (Hint: Draw the polygon on the coordinate plane and find the slopes of each side.) A. rectangle; P = 26 linear units B. square; P = 42 units2 C. parallelogram; P = 42 linear units D. trapezoid; P = 26 linear units

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Hi @elle150 and welcome to OpenStudy! The first thing you should do is graph this points on a coordinate grid so you have an idea of what's going on with the shape

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hah thanks:) ok im gonna do that now

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Alright cool and then from there we'll find the perimeter :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

|dw:1403408938826:dw| Okay so I graphed it as well and formed our lines so we can see where we're at.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i graphed them

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Lucky for us, all of these lines are straight so we can just count to find the length of each side

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

So there are 4 sides of this shape, you agree? Sides: AB BC CD AD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be answer A? because it is a rectangle and yes four sides

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Well we won't know if it's a rectangle, square, etc or not until we find the side lengths.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok that makes sense and we would do that by counting right

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Okay so side AB: |dw:1403409231214:dw| Would you agree that this side AB is 6? I just counted from point to point
