Can somebody pleaseeeee help me? I posted two questions and got no help..

OpenStudy (imstuck):

What are your questions? It's odd that you got no help...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im about to post pic

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Ok, that's an easy one! What do the measures of the angles of a triangle add up to?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

180

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Ok, so what do you know about the other 2 angles if they both are x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that there 90 degrees?

OpenStudy (imstuck):

No, they are equal to one another. If they are both x, they both have the same measure. Any ideas how to find out what x is if you know the one angle measures 50 and the measures of the triangle have to add up to 180?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just started geometry sorry im a little clueless lol

OpenStudy (imstuck):

That's ok...I'm a Geometry teacher (new teacher) and sometimes I'm a little clueless too with things that are rarely used. You'll be fine. What do you get when you subtract the one angle you know (50) from the total measures of the angles (180)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

130

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Ok, so that means, besides the 50 degree angle, the other 2 angles have to equal 130 cuz there's 180 degrees in a triangle, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 130 is the answer

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Ok, and you ALSO know that the x measures equal one another right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Ok, now follow this: angle A + angle B + angle C = 180... 50 + x + x = 180...Since the remaining angle measure equals 130, we can use that and our equation to solve for x. 50 + x + x is 50 + 2x = 180. 2x = 130. Can you solve that for x then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

65

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Yes! You just solved for the missing x in your triangle. 50 + x + x = 180... 50 + 65 + 65 = 180, right? So x is 65. THAT'S your answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks
