OpenStudy (shelby1290):

a)how is birth rate and death rate calculated? b) how is natural increase rate and population growth rate calculated?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The rate of births in a population is calculated in several ways: live births from a universal registration system for births, deaths, and marriages; population counts from a census, and estimation through specialized demographic techniques.

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

can you give me an example

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

i'm not really understanding my textbook right now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Birth rate is always measured per 1000 inhabitants. So, you'd find the total population of the country and divide it by 1000 and write it down.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That number is x . If you wanted the birth rate you'd get the total number of births then divide it by X.

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

how about death rate

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

same idea?

OpenStudy (shelby1290):
