Use the graph to state the solution for the system. x – y = –3 (line a) x + y = 3 (line b) A. (0, –3) B. (0, 3) C. (–3, 0) D. (3, 0)
Do you know what it means graphically to find the solutions to a system of equations? Do you know what point it is on a graph?
no , and yes I think.
When you are finding solutions to a system of equations, you are finding where on the graph the lines cross (or intersect [same thing]). Where on your graph do the lines cross each other?
You can substitute the answers into your system.
What are the coordinates. And yes, you can sub in your given values, but if you are given the graph, the point where they intersect is the solution. It's easier this way than doing all that math, but it will work as well.
I didn't notice she had a graph, but you can do it either way. When you're given the graph, it's much easier when you just look at the intersection like IMStuck said.
What are the coordinates of the point where the lines intersect?
Stay with us, eflatt13!
3?
That's the y coordinate. What is the x coordinate?
0?
Yes. :D
So, what is the order pair when y = 3 and x = 0?
Yep, see that's the easy way to figure that out!
(3, 0) ! :)
Perfect! Good job. :)
Umm...the x comes first. Look at your graph again.
oh yeah, lol.
No that's not right.
(x,y)
I already had that comment typed in because I thought she'd get it. derp.
sorry..
