OpenStudy (anonymous):

What would happen if we removed the rabbit from this food web? MEDALS!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i need to write something there are no choices

OpenStudy (somy):

well who feeds on rabbits?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

jaguars and alligators

OpenStudy (somy):

and something else idk whats that tho

OpenStudy (somy):

if there is no rabbit, who's gonna eat grass?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no one

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Mushrooms

OpenStudy (somy):

so amount of grass will be more

Miracrown (miracrown):

In general, lots of predators would die. And more plants would live.

OpenStudy (somy):

basically saying jaguars and alligators will get less food

Miracrown (miracrown):

yeah, right @somy! :)

OpenStudy (abhisar):

so population of jaguar and aligator will decrease and that of grass and mushrooms will increase

OpenStudy (somy):

yup yup

OpenStudy (somy):

lol wait a sec

OpenStudy (abhisar):

jaguar eat mushrooms ???

OpenStudy (abhisar):

O_o

Miracrown (miracrown):

Don't think so.

Miracrown (miracrown):

I don't know, but maybe?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and alligators apaerantly

OpenStudy (somy):

idk what animal that is (im sorry) eating grass

OpenStudy (somy):

anyways from the pic i see it eating grass but there is no arrow showing towards the grass thats weird

OpenStudy (somy):

because it makes everything a bit different for that animal

OpenStudy (abhisar):

The answer we hv is correct though, but its weird (the pic)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats why i posted the question its soooo weird >.<

OpenStudy (somy):

yeah that's what im thinking

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Wait..the pic is correct

OpenStudy (abhisar):

It shows that mushrooms (fungi) decompose the dead jaguar

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so that means ??????

OpenStudy (somy):

alright if we just look at this question without considering its weirdness then population of jaguar and alligator will decrease leading to increase of population of the animal that is eating grass so that means even if the rabbit is gone and we thing that there will be more grass, its wrong, since that animal eating grass will be more in number thus there will not be much difference in grass amount

OpenStudy (abhisar):

and alligators too

OpenStudy (somy):

as well as population of those decomposers will slightly decrease

Miracrown (miracrown):

This website is really helpful: http://www.studentbox.com.au/profiles/blogs/human-biology

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Suppose if there were 5 rabbits and 5 other herbivore and they satisfied 2 carnivore. If 5 carnivores are removed what will hapen ?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

*if 5 rabbits were removed

OpenStudy (somy):

hhh but again there is no arrow connecting animal eating grass with grass itself so better to say there will be more grass population of jaguar and alligator will decreases which leads to increase of population of that damn idk name of grass eating animal and also population of decomposers will slightly decrease that's final

OpenStudy (somy):

@Miracrown ah no lol i just finished my AS level gr 12 :)

OpenStudy (abhisar):

If 5 rabbits were removed then only 1 carnivore will survive. No. of herbivore decreased No. of carnivore decreased No of producers increased

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so there is more grass, the alligators and jaguars will decrease and that one animal increases as well and then the decomposers (mushrooms) will increase ?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

No that one grass eating animal will remain constant

OpenStudy (abhisar):

decomposers will increase initially but then decrease in long term

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and jaguars and alligators decrease is that it ?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can i ask another question that has to do with the same food web ?

OpenStudy (somy):

but that animal is eaten by both alligator and jaguars so if no of those decrease that means no of this animal will increase @Abhisar

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Alligators and jaguars eat both rabbits and Mr x

OpenStudy (abhisar):

2 on 2, now its 1 on 1

OpenStudy (abhisar):

getting somy ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the amount of grass would grow because there is no rabbit to eat it the mushrooms will increase but long term they will slightly decrease the grass eating animal shall remain constant the amount of alligators shall decrease the amount of jaguars shall decrease this is what i wrote is this correct ?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Suppose me and my friend have two chocolates to eat each day, now it's only one and we need to eat one full chocolate. Then what will happen ?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Me or either my friend will have to give up and only one among us will have the full chocolate

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Before rabbit's death there were suppose like 10 carnivores who feed upon 1 rabbit and one mr x, now sfter rabbit its 5 carnivores who feed on only 1 mr x

OpenStudy (abhisar):

*after rabbit's death

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the amount of grass would grow because there is no rabbit to eat it the mushrooms will increase but long term they will slightly decrease the grass eating animal shall remain constant the amount of alligators shall decrease the amount of jaguars shall decrease ???? @Abhisar

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Total grass eating animal is decreased since rabbit is gone, but no of mr x shall remain constant

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so grass eating animal is totally extinct in this food web ?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

No no, the grass eating animals is decreased by the question itself !

OpenStudy (abhisar):

rabbit is gone but mr x is still there

OpenStudy (abhisar):

population of Grass ↑ Poulation of Mr X constant Population of alligator & Jaguar ↓ Population of Mushrooms ↓

OpenStudy (abhisar):

and rabbit is removed by the question

OpenStudy (abhisar):

got it ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mushrooms would decrease ?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

yes they will in long term, since there food source is jaguar and alligator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so this is what i wrote

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the amount of grass would grow because there is no rabbit to eat it the mushrooms will increase but long term they will slightly decrease the grass eating animal shall remain constant the amount of alligators shall decrease the amount of jaguars shall decrease

OpenStudy (abhisar):

mushrooms slightly increase but will decrease in long term

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Is it clear now LOL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so much thank you =D
