OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Hm I'm not quite sure what you're asking. But I'm guessing they want you to find the x value of this system of equations?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A: -1/7 B: -7/9 C: -4/7 D:-9 E: -4/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

forst solve the two equations for x then find y sub. in any equation to find x

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Alrighty Since they want the x value this means we have to get rid of y. So what we'll do is multiply the 2nd equation by 4 so that the ys will cancel. What will you get if you distribute the 4 in 4(-3x-y=4) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-12x-16?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm really bad at this.

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Close -12x-4x=16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh alright

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

So now we are going to add the equations together (aka combine like terms) |dw:1403526948241:dw|
