Solve for y -1 + y/8 < 15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y < 7/4 y < 2 y < 112 y < 128

OpenStudy (redohawk):

y < 2 do you need explanation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-1 + y/8 < 15 y/8 < 16 y < 128 Redo you are wrong.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You multiply the entire equation by 8, you don't divide.

OpenStudy (redohawk):

what? i am pretty sure you divide. Oh well, I tried...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Uh oh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if it were 8y you would divide, but it's y over 8, and the opposite of division is multiplication, so you multiply it all by 8 to get y < 128

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks man you get a medal
