What is the definition of taxonomy?
the branch of science concerned with classification, especially of organisms; systematics.
So this would be how organisms are grouped into classes such as: Kingdom Phylum Class Order etc.
The branch of biology that deals with the naming and classification of organisms, is known as "Taxonomy"...
Taxonomy is the practice and science of classification.
@og_od @SummerNS Taxonomy is most definitely not systematics. They are not synonyms. Taxonomy is the classification of organisms from a most inclusive to least inclusive group. Systematics is the study of how organisms diversified. Currently, nearly everything down is taxonomic systematics, which is why the two are frequently thought to be the same thing. They are not though.
*done not down.
