Can somebody please explain to me what psychoanalytic and postcolonial critical theory is? I have a question in english that says:

Think about a literary work that you have recently read. Choose either the psychoanalytic or postcolonial critical theory, and explain your interpretation of a character or theme from the work. How does viewing a character or the theme through the chosen perspective affect your interpretation of it?

I dont know what psychoanalytic and postcolonial critical theory is. Help?
