Write the equation of the function graphed. A. f(x) = |x| + 4 B. f(x) = |x| – 4 C. f(x) = |x – 4| D. f(x) = |x + 4|

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

It NEVER goes negative. This rules out B. It DOES get all the way to zero (0). This rules out A. Where does it take on the minimum value? This will decide it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f(x) = |x – 4| ?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

You didn't answer my question. Where does it take on the minimum value?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you mean the points? or am I getting that wrong as well?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

The minimum value of the function - as presented in the graph. Where is it? x = ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-4

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

x = -4 -- Good. What is the value of |x-4| at x = -4? What is the value of |x+4| at x = -4?
