I think maybe you are confused about what a moderator does:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have a hard math question are you willing to help me please

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

moderators make sure we behave, but we can all help:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm willing to help. :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Me too

Miracrown (miracrown):

We all are willing to help you out, what's your question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ask now, having 5+ people on a question is always a good thing :D

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

We have moderators that are biology professors... being a mod means little when it comes to math. But we have several people that are very good at math on the site. But people need to see the question, so...

All sides of the larger quadrilateral are eight-fifths the length of the sides of the smaller quadrilateral. Which similarity statement is true?

Miracrown (miracrown):

Is it multiple choice?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and yes it is multiple choice

OpenStudy (anonymous):

angle X is congruent to angle W angle W is congruent to angle A angle M is congruent to angle Y angle P is congruent to angle X

Miracrown (miracrown):

Do you have a picture?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, that's a question directly from a quiz right? We can't see it because FLVS doesn't allow someone to log into your course VIA link.

Miracrown (miracrown):

We need to know where the angles are.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hold on I have the picture

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea itz from flvs and i dont know any other way to show you guyz the picture

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol, I'm on flvs right now, I guess it's able to go through on my thing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea so do you guyz have the question and picture now or no?

Miracrown (miracrown):

This question can't be done without the pic. Sorry...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just posted the pic @Miracrown

Miracrown (miracrown):

okay, didn't see. So @Kayla_Is_Smart which option seems most true to you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think it is answer B but not 100% sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why do you think it's B? And I'll help you out with this one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Take a screenshot of the picture, then upload it to tinyurl, then give the link to mira.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not tinurl, filz.us sorry lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think it is B because that is the only answer that is reasonable and makes since

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1403572247474:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is B "angle W is congruent to angle A"?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And now look, the angles in the two traingles are the same, but the lengths of the sides are 2x the size of the other

OpenStudy (anonymous):

see ths is where i get sooo confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This goes to show that even if you increaswe all the sides by the same amount, the angles don't change, you're just making a new shape with the same angles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer is A?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1403572459641:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, this is a better picture. Now look at the two triangles. Every triangle adds up to 180 right? So if we increase all the sides by 1.5 (like in that picture) the angles don't all of a sudden increase to 360 (180x2). It's still 180 since it's a triangle so all the angles stay the same. The thing you need to realize then, is if you increase the size of the shape like all the sides then the angles stay the same

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So yes, A would be correct but can you tell me why?
