Where is the vertex of the parabola? y = x2 + 2x + 1 A. Above the x-axis B. Below the x-axis C. On the x-axis D. On the y-axis

Miracrown (miracrown):

@eflatt13 what do you think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Below the x-axis

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Have you considered: 1) Completing the Square? 2) Calculating -b/(2a)?

Miracrown (miracrown):

Not quite. Can you explain why you thought it must be b? We could just go ahead and find the vertex for it. There's a formula for the x-coordinate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=-b/2a through this u can find the value of x then substitute it in the equation to get the value of y and that will give u the vertex

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the equation is in the form of ax^+bx+c=0

Miracrown (miracrown):

To see this one, one way is just compute the vertex.
