http://www.timthetutor.net/geowb/6.4.pdf Can anyone help with questions #18-21? Please don't just give me the answer, explain the steps.

OpenStudy (anteater):

So, for question 1, you have triangle ABC is similar to ... And when you write down the triangle it is similar to, you would want to list the angle that corresponds to A first, and so on. So, what would the answer be to #1?

OpenStudy (anteater):

Oh ... I am sorry! I started with #1. You want 18 - 21.

OpenStudy (anteater):

It might first help to identify which sides of the small triangle correspond with which sides of the large one.

OpenStudy (anteater):

And so, then look at two corresponding sides whose endpoints are given and determine their lengths and the ratio of their lengths.

OpenStudy (anteater):

Then you will know that the ratio of the length of the missing side to its corresponding side must be the same.

OpenStudy (anteater):

And so then once you know what the length of that side must be, then you can use the one endpoint that was given and the distance formula to determine what the coordinates of the missing point are.

OpenStudy (anteater):

And, you should be able to use the diagram to determine what the x coordinate of point Z is. ;)

OpenStudy (anteater):

Is that enough information without giving the answers away? I just want to make sure I was replying the way you wanted. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea thanks! :D

OpenStudy (anteater):

Ok, good :D
