whats the difference between acceleration and speed?

OpenStudy (shamim):

do u know the deffination of speed

OpenStudy (matt101):

Speed is the change in DISTANCE over time, measured in metres/second (m/s) Acceleration is the change in SPEED over time, measured in metres/second/second (m/s/s or m/s^2) In other words, speed tells you how fast your distance traveled is changing, while acceleration tells you how fast your speed is changing.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

big difference speed[scalar quantity] can tell u how fast is the object is moving(but not where it is going{velocity can tell both}) accel[vector quantity] tells u how fast your velocity is changing[just agreeing with matt]
