OpenStudy (anonymous):

Whats the question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Factor completely

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. Do you know what a GCD (greatest common denominator) is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No.

OpenStudy (redohawk):

4x^2-8x+6x-12 4x(x-2)+6(x-2) (4x+6)(x-2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A greatest common denominator is the largest number that divides all terms evenly. In this case, what is the largest integer that divides all terms evenly?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@RedoHawk that's not completely factored. But more importantly, do not just give answers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\(4x^2-2x-12=2(2x^2-x-6)=2(2x^2+3x-4x-6)\\=2[(2x^2-4x)+(3x-6)]=2[2x(x-2)+3(x-2)]=2(x-2)(2x+3)\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wow. Is that how everyone operates here? Just post the answer so the person asking the question will like you? How is the OP supposed to learn how to solve the problem when you just post the answer.

OpenStudy (redohawk):

your right, but that's what people want i think. I give people the answers right away because that's what i want fro myself.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OF COURSE that is what they want. But by doing that, you are not doing the person who needs the help any service. I understand the desire to help, that's why we're all here. But the next time they need to solve a problem like this, they won't know how to solve it. They will just come here and hope someone spoon-feeds them. And then there are those whom just post the answer because it makes them feel smart. It is the person who can simply explain the problem who is smart, not the one who can post an answer with no explanation at all.
