so you have the points (1,4) and (-1,14) all you need to do is fill in the coordinates into this formula \[\frac{ y _{2}-y _{1} }{ x _{2}-x _{1} }\] it doesn't matter which point you choose as point 1 or 2 just as long as the y is over the x from the same point. Does that make sense?
