when multiplying a exponent by an exponent do you add them or multiply? the equation is (a^5 x C^-3/4)^1/3

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

If it is multiplying like (x^2)(x^3) you add them so this would be x^5 But if you're distributing a power, you multiply. (6x^2)^2 would equal 36x^4

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

\((a^ba^d)^v=a^{bv}a^{dv}=a^{bv+dv}\)
