Tina's salary was $20,350 last year. This year she is getting paid $2,000 more. What was the percent increase to the nearest percent? Show me how to do it please not just answer
What you think is the fist step?
Idk Thats Why Im Asking You Guys
A person always have a guess but that guess some times does not lead to the answer. I just wanted to know your guess. Anyways, Lets start with an easy example, Let say you are paid $2 dollar in a hour but next hour you are paid $1 more, what is the percentage increase?
!% Increase
!% ?
1 Sorry Had Shift On
1% is incorrect, tell me what is half of 2?
1
but I can say "1" is 50% of "2" right?
Yea
So if I pay you 2 dollar per hour, next hour you are paid $1 more, whats the increase?
50%
Correct, so you are getting 50% more of the original amount which was $2, therefore the increase is 50%. Now apply the concept to the question you posted.
We know "1" is half of "2" which I can write as \[\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }\]and if I multiply by "100", I converted half in to percentage. \[\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }*100=50\]
Can you tell me how we will solve the original question using the concept I showed?
percent means per 100 set up a ratio increase : original is the same as x:100 where x is the percentage; the amount out of 100 for this problem the increase is 2000 and the original is 20350 |dw:1403658266899:dw|
