OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

How do ecologists use diagrams such as Figure 3-4 to study ecological relationships?

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

i'd say that the model shown is based on observations and experiments (science) and that ecologists use models (like this) to explain (observed) phenomena and make predictions.

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

based on the observations

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

.....or not?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Well the diagram represents a Food web !

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

yeah i know that

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

but isnt the question asking how its used

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

?

OpenStudy (somy):

By the diagram Ecologist can tell how important are the species in the food web as well as who would extinction of 1 specie effect the rest meaning it shows relation between all the animals in a food web

OpenStudy (somy):

how would

OpenStudy (abhisar):

These describe the feeding relationships between species to another within an ecosystem. Organisms are connected to the organisms they consume by arrows representing the direction of biomass transfer.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

got it ?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

???

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

yep

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

thanks again guys ...... and girl

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

:)
